Russell Crowe does such weird stuff...

and that's why I love him!

He's just given away a £60,000 (approx. US$95,514) prop from his film Robin Hood to the Clanranald Trust in Scotland, a charitable organisation which aims to raise awareness of Scottish culture and heritage through interactive education.

The prop - a battering ram - will be used during their medieval battle re-enactments, which will be held at the replica medieval Motte and Bailey Fort they are building in the Fintry Hills. They hope it will serve as a visitor attraction.

Apparently the idea is to provide an arena where groups and individuals can experience the atmosphere of an authentic medieval working community.

I won't tell you how much money they've already spent on this fort, you'll have to read this article if you want to know.

Hmm, nice gesture, although I just can't see the relevance of this Trust at all! I know, I'm terrible, aren't I and I'm being very mean spirited.

Anyway, well done, Russ, for being such a generous mad man with your friends! I do really love him for doing ridiculous things like this! You know what though, I'm pretty sure that in similar circumstances, Gale would do crazy stuff like this, too! ;)

Wimbledon Men's Final...

What an incredible day to be at Wimbledon!

Roger Federer versus Andy Roddick. Roger hoping to win his FIFTEENTH Grand Slam!

In the crowd watching we have past great champions Martina Navratilova, Rod Laver and Bjorn Borg. The fabulous Ilie Nastase is here. The lovely John McEnroe and Boris Becker are here as usual. One of my favourite actors, Russell Crowe, is here.

Pete Sampras has done a wonderful thing by coming here after an absence of seven years. He will either witness his US compatriot, Andy, win his first Wimbledon or Roger winning his sixth Wimbledon and thereby beating Pete's own record of 14 Grand Slam titles.

It's a beautiful warm day, with a lovely breeze. The strawberries are luscious and the cream... um, creamy. Now if only Gale Harold loved tennis enough to be here...

ETA: The gorgeous Michael Ballack is here too!

ETA2: Wow, 9 games all in the final set...

ETA3: Um, 12 games all in the final set...

ETA4: Final Result - (highlight if you want to know)Roger Federer wins 5-7 7-6 7-6 3-6 16-14. His Sixth Wimbledon Championship win and his Fifteenth Grand Slam title! Poor Andy Roddick runner-up for the third time.

State of Play or state of envy...

When I saw these, I didn't really know how to feel! To envy Dame Helen for that figure at 63! Or, getting to snog Russell Crowe on the red carpet in the London sunshine yesterday!

Oh, well, maybe both...

Here's the article:

She was surrounded by girls in pink tutus and skimpy summer dresses, but Dame Helen Mirren outshone the competition on the red carpet tonight.

At the world premiere of State Of Play Dame Helen gave the young upstarts a lesson in old-fashioned glamour.

The 63-year-old showed off her enviable figure in a calf-length Donna Karen white shift dress, which flattered the curves which have won her a multitude of fans.

Teamed with Jimmy Choo shoes and elegant handmade Moira earrings she cut a demure figure as she glided down the red carpet.

She was joined by her co-star Russell Crowe who himself, now newly slimmed-down for his role in the upcoming film Robin Hood looked dashing in a shiny, grey suit and aviator sunglasses.

However, both stars made light work of the red carpet. Oscar-winner Dame Helen ignored all but a handful of fans as she arrived and dashed inside the venue refusing to speak to waiting reporters.

There was more than a hint of irony in her decision - Mirren plays a ruthless newspaper editor in the political thriller which has been adapted from a BBC mini series.

Crowe, 45, who is known to have a difficult relationship with the press similarly plays an investigative journalist. He too had little patience for the waiting crowd signing only a few autographs before heading inside.
